Amirtham College of Education

Amirtham College of Education offers a Bachelor’s Degree in Education (B.Ed). This programme, which commenced in 2007 admits 100 students every year. Two batches of students have already been passed out of the institute. Like the Institute the College has also produced very good results. While the pass percentage was 100% in 2007, the result for 2008 and 2009 was 86%.

Amirtham Educational & Charitable Trust (AECT), a registered non-profit,

non-Governmental organisation was established in 2005 to impart quality education and training at an affordable cost with a specific focus on those challenged by social and economic inequalities.

The organisation is named in the memory of Thirumathi Amirthammal a woman of unique personality from Palur, a remote village located on the northern bank of Palar river in Kancheepuram District, Tamil Nadu. She married to a World war II veteran Havildar C.Kuppuswamy of Pinayoor village located on the southern bank of Palar river.

Tmt. Amirthammal, though an illiterate was not short of understanding in worldy wisdom. She understood the importance of education and strived hard to ensure the same to all her eight children. Her first two children graduated in 1955 and the other children went anto acquire higher educatin including professional degrees from the most reputed institutions in our Country and Abroad.

Advisory Council :

The Advisory Council guiders AECT in the function of its institutions. The Advisory Council comprises eminent scholars in the fields of education, management and industry.
